Healthy Breakfast Food Ideas

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, but not just because our Mums said so! Nutritionalists have been telling us for years that by eating a decent meal in the morning our brains function better, we have more energy and our longterm health improves.

Porridge oats


The UnPerfect UnCooked Cereal Bar


  • 100g finely ground oats
  • 25g Rice Krispies
  • Pinch of salt
  • 55g peanut butter
  • 75g honey
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons chocolate chips
  • 1 teaspoon coconut oil


  • Line an 8-inch springform tin with a baking sheet
  • Mix the oats, Krispies, salt, peanut butter, honey and vanilla extract in a bowl. Add a bit of milk if it’s dry
  • Put the mixture in the tin and smooth with a spoon before putting in the freezer
  • Slowly melt the chocolate chips and coconut oil in a pan
  • After 5-10 minutes, remove the mixture freezer and cut into rectangles. Pour the melted chocolate on top and put back into the freezer until set


Sexy Berry Smoothie


  • 200g strawberry yoghurt
  • 200g frozen berries
  • 75ml milk
  • 1 banana
  • 30g porridge oats


  • Blend everything together except the porridge oats until smooth
  • Add the oats and pulse the blender lightly then serve


Eggsactly What You Need 


  • 1 avocado
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 slices of wholemeal bread
  • Salt and pepper


  • Toast the bread and cover each slice with half a mashed avocado
  • Cook two eggs in your favourite way (fried? scrambled? hard boiled and sliced?) and top the avocado with it
